Years ago, Jerry and Michelle Senatore wallpapered their bathroom when they moved into their house in Hunters Gate in southeast Charlotte. “Our children were very young … the bright stripes in the sink area and fish in the tub area seemed like a good idea at the time.” Then the kids grew up – and a change was in order. The Senatores did all the work themselves. They removed the bar light and replaced it with a chandelier and two sconces. He built two custom cabinets to go above the vanity, and she painted them. They created new doors for the vanity, and added beadboard, crown molding and new wallpaper. Cost: about $400.
