The Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs will host Patrick George during Wednesday’s program. Refreshments and fellowship begin at 9:30 a.m.; the council meeting and program starts at 10 a.m., 1820 E. Festival of Tables deadline

The deadline for purchasing tickets to the Salvation Army’s 26th annual “Festival of Tables” benefit luncheon is Friday. This year’s keynote speaker will be Joan Zimmerman, founder of Southern Shows, Inc. The luncheon, which also features designers and silent auction, benefits Salvation Army programs that support women and children in need.
