I'm So Clever

Folding storage rack works great on trips

The winner: We travel a lot across the country or local weekend trips. Many times our bathrooms have little counter space. A folding cube has solved many of our space problems. We can Velcro it on a closet rod or even across the bathtub rod. Each person has their own cube and it even doubles for drawer space. It takes up little space in luggage and we never travel without it!

Butter wrapping comes in handy

I learned this tip from a friend’s mother. When opening a new stick of butter, you can take the paper wrapped around the butter and freeze it. When you are baking something that requires a buttered baking dish, just pull the paper out and use it to butter the dish. It has just enough butter on the paper to do the job.

Bonus tip: When I pick greenbeans from my garden, the leaves irritate my arms. So I have old socks that I cut the toes out of and slide the socks over my arms to protect them from the leaves. Rhonda Adams, Matthews

Use Sharpie to sign credit card

Tired of having your signature becoming smeared and illegible on the back of your credit card? To prevent that, use a fine point Sharpie pen. It really works. Wish I could take credit, but it was actually a customer service person with my credit card company who shared that bit of wisdom. Bill Hamelau, Charlotte
