Pool noodle saves kayak paddle

The winner: After my son let one of our kayak paddles drift away and sink, I bought a pool noodle that had a hole with the same diameter as the new paddle shaft. I sawed off 6 inch sections with a serrated knife, disconnected the two sides of the paddle and slipped it onto the shaft. One noodle can protect about 8 paddles.

Herbal freshener for disposal

To freshen a disposal without using chemicals, I drop in the stems from fresh herbs and turn it on. I discovered this accidentally after making mojitos with mint from the garden. ;) We also slice and freeze lemons when they’re about to go bad and use the frozen slices in the disposal too.
