The winner: When I had no more use for my baby crib, I took off one of the sides and sawed off the legs so it would be sofa height. I padded the mattress with a soft quilt and added plump pillows. I used eyelet material for the skirt. It serves many purposes: a day bed for my grandchildren and small sofa for my friends who come to my craft room to sew and knit. WASTE NOT, WANT NOT! Pie pan foils Squirrel Nutkin
Squirrel-proof your bird feeder. Take a lightweight pie or large cake pan, put a hole in the center and suspend it over the feeder, using a knot or other device to keep it suspended. Make sure it moves freely, and the squirrel won’t be able to hold on to it or get to the feeder. Richard Dvorak, Charlotte
