The vibe: Nestled in the former Toast Café spot, and convenient to the new Discovery Place Kids in downtown Huntersville, Café 100 has a cozy, intimate feel. Colorful works by local artists adorn the walls (and they’re for sale!). The menu is breakfast-oriented but there are plenty of lunch selections too, and be sure to check out the daily specials. Lake Norman Magazine staffers also appreciated the helpful staff and eco-friendly touches including paper takeout containers during our recent visit.

Menu best bets: Two Eggs Plate, $5. “My scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Served with fresh fruit and sourdough toast, it filled me up.” – Targeted Publications Executive Editor Angela Daley Build Your Own Burrito, $5. “There are lots of great combinations available – I had mine with bacon, tomatoes and cheese – and it’s a lot of food for a reasonable price.” –Lake Norman Magazine Editor Leigh Dyer Vegetable Omelet with home fries, $8. “The vegetables were crisp (not mushy). The home fries were memorable – I could not have made them better myself.” – Targeted Publications Manager Anne Devereaux Spinach and Swiss Quiche with fruit and side salad (that day’s spccial), $8. “The quiche had fresh baby spinach, rather than chopped/frozen, which was a nice touch. The salad was a nice size for an accompaniment.” – Account Executive Kim Cross Roasted Veggie Wrap with pasta salad, $8. “Jam-packed with zucchini, yellow squash, red onion and carrots. The pasta salad was nicely flavored and had nice bits of tomato and a good sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. I could have just had a bowl of that.” – Creative Director Christine Long Asian Chicken Salad, $9 (available in half-portion with cup of soup for $8). “Very fresh with lots of dark greens, and the dijon vinaigrette was very good.” – Account Executive Jane Rodewald Tomato bisque soup (available as a special some days): $2 cup, $3 bowl. Multiple staffers loved the flavor.
