Lakeshore: Healthy Kids Day

YMCA Healthy Kids Day.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day.

Lowe’s YMCA in Mooresville will be hosting the 7th annual Healthy Kids Day on April 28, which promotes ways for families to become healthier, more active and better connected. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend the event, which is part of the YMCA’s national campaign to improve the overall well-being of families. A day of fun and fitness is planned, starting with the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA’s 5K Run/Walk and a Kids Fun Run. Activities for all ages include game, music, face painting, balloon artists and an inflatable bounce house. Local business and food vendors will also be on site, as well as fitness and dance exhibitions. All vendor proceeds and sponsorships from Healthy Kids Day will go back into the Mooresville community through programs run by Lowe’s YMCA Community Support Campaign. These programs help local kids get involved in the community in different ways, including after school care, summer camps, sports and swim lessons, as well as the Y Readers program. Through the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, Lowe’s YMCA also empowers cancer survivors to stay active. Registration for the 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run is going on now.
