Man aids stranded Charlotte woman with crosstown ride

With the bad weather we got in late winter, it was hard driving to my housekeeping job taking care of the elderly and sick. The worst day was Feb. 24 on a slick hill on Ramah Church Road in Huntersville. I slid off in a ditch and got stuck. It was in a deserted spot and early in the morning.

I was so afraid; my heart was just pounding. I was in a strange neighborhood several miles from home. A nicely dressed white gentleman appeared and told me he would take me home. I, being black, was hesitant to go and offered to pay him.

He was so kind. He refused the money and drove me all the way to west Charlotte. I felt like God sent an angel to watch over me.

I want to thank Mr. Pat Golden of Huntersville for his kindness and for getting me home safely. Valerie Crawford, Charlotte
