Stranger stops to help motorist who falls ill in Matthews

I am a 77-year-old with Type 1 diabetes. At times, I have had severe problems with low blood sugar. One day I was on my way to Costco when it dropped. A lady driving behind me noticed I was driving “like a drunk.”

She was behind me and eventually passed me but turned around and came back because she was concerned. Meanwhile, I had pulled over realizing something was wrong.

She got out of her car and came to mine and asked if I was OK. I said “no” and passed out.

She called 911 and stayed with me until I was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. The next day, she came to the hospital to be sure I was OK.

She saved my life, and I don’t even know her name. Louise Hale, Harrisburg
