It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that a) I love a good deal and b) I adore designer clothing, shoes and handbags. So that’s why I can’t wait to introduce you to monarch, which opened on East Boulevard in Charlotte on Wednesday.*

An upscale consignment boutique, monarch has an incredible selection of high-end designer gear from Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Matthew Williamson, Gucci, Alice + Olivia, among others. Co-owners (and Charlotte-area natives) Cindy Siesel and Stephanie Dooley Sellers set out in late 2010 to fill what they saw as a hole in Charlotte’s retail landscape.

The duo were so inspired by the eclectic boutiques and galleries of Dilworth, they found a charming home on East Boulevard in which to house their unique resale store. They are enthusiastic about their refreshingly modern take on an old concept.

“We have created a boutique for the times we are in,” says Siesel, mother of two daughters. “We’re collaborating with others in the community, and their closets, too.”

The boutique shares the building at 1222 East Blvd (across from the Harris Teeter), with Revolve (a mens’ consignment boutique) which recently relocated from Providence Road. Besides the best in designer gear, monarch is also home to Swap handbags (for rent or purchase) and Happy Chairs designed by Shawna Robinson.

So stop by and get familiar with your new favorite shop.

* Disclosure: monarch is a pr/marketing client of my company, Rachel Sutherland Communications.
