The wonderful women of the Mint Museum Auxiliary recently indulged my love of luxury with a sneak peek of locally-owned Oscar de la Renta gowns.
But let me back up for a second — I’m getting ahead of myself.
Designer Oscar de la Renta is coming to Charlotte with his Fall 2011 collection for the Art of Style, a gala benefit for the Mint Museum Auxiliary April 29 at the uptown Mint Museum. Tickets are $500 each.
To coincide with the legendary designer’s visit, the auxiliary has pulled together a collection of locally-owned de la Renta gowns. Stunning is an understatement.

The artistry is amazing. And the public will have a chance to see the collection of more than 35 gowns, as they will be on display on April 30 and May 1 at the Mint Museum Uptown. Check out the Thursday, April 21 issue of the Charlotte Observer’s Style section for my interview with Oscar de la Renta and the story behind a few of the locally-owned beauties.
