Test drive: Cane + Austin

Cane + Austin

Remember when you were younger and you thought a clean face meant using astringent or products that made your eyes water? No? Maybe it was just me, then, who took extra delight in the way my face felt after using Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 2. I swear those very popular cleansing pads (which will remain nameless, but rhyme with frydex) could take paint off a car, but darn if your face didn’t feel squeaky clean after just one swipe!

Thanks to Cane + Austin, we’ve now have a wonderfully adult counterpart without all that harshness and burning.

I was turned on to Cane + Austin by my main beauty product pusher (and client of my PR firm) Jeffre Scott, who clearly had grown tired of my incessant whining about the state of my skin. He thrust the C+A acne treatment pads into my hand and promised miracles.

Those pads — with 5 percent glycolic and 2 percent salicylic acid — have been nothing short of revelatory for my skin, especially as we enter the stifling summer months.

All that gross adult acne on my chin? Gone.

The oil slick that moves across my t-zone around late afternoon? Nonexistent.

I am such a fan, I have started telling everyone who will listen about the amazing results, including people I don’t know personally. I recently found myself trading mutual Tweet love for the product with Eva Chen of Teen Vogue.

I wash my sensitive skin with cream cleanser at night (I’m loving Lush’s 9 to 5 at the moment) and follow with a light face cream (Duchess Marden is rocking my world). In the morning, I swipe a C+A pad over my face and I’ve got a clean, bright surface with which to start my day! The blend of glycolic and salicylic acids makes for gentle cleansing and exfoliating at the same time.
