LONG WEEKEND OF JAZZ CONCERTS: Thursday through next Sunday in New Orleans, Satchmo SummerFest has free performances by top names in traditional and contemporary jazz. Performers include Dr. Michael White, Connie Jones, Crescent City Jazz Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Kermit Ruffins, Chris Clifton, Rebirth Brass Band, Tim Laughlin, Soul Rebels, Leah Chase and Treme Brass Band.

The four music stages – plus food booths and vendor tents – are on the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint, in the French Quarter.

Also, when you book a hotel room through www.NewOrleansOnline.com, you can get a $50 refund when spending $150 or more.

The annual event honors New Orleans native and jazz legend Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong (1901-1971). Satchmo SummerFest coincides with Armstrong's birthday (Aug. 4).
