Sisters' idea turned out to be a gem

Sisters Melissa Rovner and Allison Stackpole never intended to start their own jewelry company. But four years ago, after their friends snatched up every last one of the pieces they had designed for fun, jewelry making became their sisterly obsession and their company.

Atlanta-based Nastro Bello was born.

Their unique lariat designs are inspired by the colors and beauty of nature, using South Sea and freshwater pearls, exotic wood, shells, crystal and brilliant semi-precious stones. Designed to be worn as a choker, bracelet, long, or down the back with an open-back dress, the pieces are versatile as well as beautiful and look great with a casual daytime outfit or a fancy dress. They're even perfect for stylish brides who want to wear an original piece.

The line is carried at seven Georgia stores (including At the Collective and Honey Butter, both in Atlanta) plus two in Florida and one in Huntsville, Ala. Visit their website to buy your own or to check out the list of festivals where you can catch the sisters selling their wares. (Next up is the Atlanta Arts Festival, Sept. 18-19.)
