PBS star Thomas is at Tweetsie

Thomas the Tank Engine, the star of PBS kids’ show “Thomas & Friends,” holds forth at Tweetsie Railroad through June 9. Children can take a 25-minute ride on Thomas and enjoy Thomas-themed activities. The Thomas rides depart every 30 minutes, rain or shine, between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, until 5 p.m. Sundays through Fridays. Tickets for “Day Out With Thomas”: $37; $23 for ages 3-12; 2 and younger, free. Regular attractions at the Wild West-themed amusement park also will be open. JUNE 8-9 York County, S.C.

Hit the roads for Ag + Art Tour

York County, S.C., just south and southwest of Charlotte, is staging the Ag + Art Tour, a free and self-guided tour of 20 stops where you can visit food producers, artisans, musicians, story tellers and more. All food and crafts on the tour are produced in-state. Each stop features multiple demonstrations or activities. Tour hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 8, 1-5 p.m. June 9. The event also includes “From Barns to Bedcovers,” a quilt tour featuring works by the York County Quilters. At the tour website – www.agandarttouryc.com – download a map showing locations and listing activities. At your first stop, pick up a free “passport guide” to be stamped at your various stops. At your last stop of the day or weekend, you can enter it for a prize drawing.
