Dora the Explorer at Tweetsie

Fans of Dora the Explorer – star of the animated Nickelodeon series – can meet her and her pal, Diego, at Tweetsie Railroad at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. Friday through June 23. The Wild West-theme amusement park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 18. The park will remain open until 9 p.m. on July 4 for its Fireworks Extravaganza and July 6, 13, 20 and 27 for its Cool Summer Nights promotion. Details: www.tweetsie.com.

Evening programs at Brookgreen

Wednesdays through Fridays, through Aug. 9, Brookgreen Gardens will remain open until 9 p.m. for Cool Summer Evenings activities. On Wednesdays, scenes, songs and sonnets by Shakespeare are offered; Thursdays feature educational and interactive programs with live animals (the one-hour shows begin at 5 p.m.), plus live performances in the Enchanted Storybook Forest area and Cooking with Kids hands-on demonstrations, both at 6 p.m.; 7 p.m. “Concerts on the Lawn” are highlighted Fridays. Events are included in regular admission. River cruises ($7 extra) are also offered all three nights.

Free fun at Broadway at the Beach

On evenings through Sept. 1, the outdoor entertainment lineup at Broadway at the Beach rotates Mr. Nigel’s Music (interactive music; 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays) with Fire Circus (performers who work with fire; 8-10 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
