If you wake up in the morning and realize you need a new outfit for a party that night, Macy’s has good news.
Instead of driving to SouthPark or Northlake malls, the department store will now deliver items available in stores the same day they are ordered, Macy’s announced on Wednesday.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that whenever, wherever and however our customer chooses to shop, their experience is seamless and convenient,” said Scott Prieto, executive vice president of logistics and operations in a statement. “We’re excited that we can leverage the stores we have in the Charlotte market as fulfillment centers to power same-day delivery, closing the gap between customers and products for more of our shoppers just in time for the holidays.”
Macy’s launched same-day delivery in 2014 and expanded to 15 more areas on Wednesday. The move comes as department stores make changes to compete with online retailers like Amazon.com.
When shoppers select the same-day delivery option they will pay $8 on top of shipping charges for the service. Customers will also get a picture of their driver, estimated arrival time and GPS tracking of the order.
