AARP is looking for volunteers to assist in preparing 2015 tax income returns for low and moderate income households in the Charlotte area.
Volunteers should have basic computer literacy, should like working with people, should be able to prepare their own taxes and should be able to serve at least one day a week during tax season, AARP said in a statement. They will go through orientation and training to become IRS certified.
The organization is also recruiting client facilitators who schedule appointments, serve as receptionist and assist taxpayers before their appointments with a tax preparer.
Those seeking more information or wishing to volunteer can visit AARP.org, scroll down to Tax-Aide and follow the links. AARP membership is not required to volunteer. AARP also said those interested can email firstname.lastname@example.org if they have issues registering.
AARP has several Tax-Aide sites in Charlotte, including Steele Creek, south Charlotte and University City.
