Essex Homes plans to build a 200-home community in eastern Lincoln County that would include land for an elementary school.
Newton Crossing would be on 70 acres on the east side of two-lane N.C. 16 Business, just south of Sarah Drive and Webbs Road near Lake Norman. An additional 17 acres would be donated to the Lincoln County Schools for the elementary school, said Robert Davis, a consultant for the developer.
Homes would range from $275,000 to at least $350,000, Davis said.
Essex Homes is based in Columbia, S.C., and has a Charlotte office. The builder hopes to have the first model homes up by spring 2017, Davis said.
