The Mecklenburg County ABC store on Wilkinson Boulevard will move across the street, expanding by over 3,000 square feet.
The current location is a rental property, according to Jason Hughes, CEO of the county’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Hughes said it is too small for the traffic that comes into the store.
Real estate records show that the Mecklenburg County ABC Board bought the land next to QuikTrip gas station last July for $925,000. The new building will be 8,400 square feet, compared with about 5,000 square feet at the current store.
Customers will have more room to shop, and Hughes said the store will double the number of check-out counters.
