Chamber to honor innovators

The Charlotte Chamber will recognize companies and nonprofits that exemplify top innovation in technology, products, services and business models at its 2008 Innovation Awards gala Sept. 16.

The chamber will honor Michael Marsicano, president of the Foundation for the Carolinas, as the Innovator of the Year, for how he shapes and responds to critical community issues. Parker, Poe, Adams and Bernstein, LLP, a Carolinas-based law firm with more than 200 attorneys in six offices in North and South Carolina, will receive the Innovation in Diversity Award for its initiatives aimed at retaining, mentoring and developing minority and women lawyers.

Winners also will be announced for the following award categories: Innovative Use or Deployment of Technology, Innovative New Product or Service, Innovative Marketing or Branding Campaign, and Innovative Green Product, Service or Process.
