Nucor Corp. announced another acquisition Wednesday, a day after acquiring an Indiana steel company and announcing plans to start production at an Arizona mill.
The Charlotte steelmaker's wholly owned subsidiary, The David J. Joseph Co., has acquired substantially all the assets of the American Compressed Steel operations of Secondary Resources Inc., Nucor officials said in a news release.

American Compressed Steel, which as 112 employees and processes nearly 180,000 tons a year, is based in Kansas City, Mo., and also operates in St. Joseph and Sedalia, Mo.
The acquisition is another step toward Nucor's plan to expand in the scrap processing industry, officials said. Since the company acquired David J. Joseph in March, it has added about 1 million tons of scrap processing and 23 locations through four acquisitions.
