SPX CEO joins Nucor board

SPX Corp. CEO Christopher Kearney has been elected to the board of fellow Charlotte-based manufacturer Nucor Corp., Nucor announced Thursday.

Kearney, 53, has been CEO of SPX since 2004. His company, No. 466 on this year's Fortune 500 list, is a diversified manufacturer with $4.8 billion in revenues and 17,000 employers. Its headquarters are in Charlotte's Ballantyne area.

Nucor, with $16.6 billion in revenues, is one of the world's largest steel companies and was No. 151 on this year's Fortune 500 list. Its headquarters are in the SouthPark area.

“We believe that Chris will be an excellent addition to the Nucor board due to his industry experience and leadership skills,” Nucor CEO Dan DiMicco said in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome him to our team.”
