Curtiss-Wright Controls buys product supplier

Charlotte-based Curtiss-Wright Controls announced Wednesday that it bought a Norwegian computer products supplier for about $72 million – the company's largest acquisition this year.

VMETRO ASA makes commercial off-the-shelf board- and system-level embedded computer products for applications in aerospace, defense, industrial, communication and medical markets. Founded in 1986, the company has about 200 employees and will become part of Curtiss-Wright Controls' Embedded Computing group.

Curtiss-Wright Controls, a segment of New Jersey-based Curtiss-Wright Corp., is based in Ballantyne and provides motion control products, subsystems and services for the aerospace and defense markets.
