Electrolux North America unveiled its new laundry research and development center Thursday, showcasing new products that included a fast-cycle washing machine whose tub spins at 1,400 revolutions per minute – equivalent to a Ford Mustang going 130 mph.
The new center continues the appliance maker’s expansion in Charlotte, bringing 60 research jobs to the city and growing the company’s local employment to more than 925.
Electrolux also donated $20,000 to Vance High School’s Engineering Academy. The school, just outside the University Research Park, home of Electrolux’s North American headquarters, will use the money for robotic parts and equipment, Computer-Aided Design technology, and tablets and computers.
