American Airlines kicked off its seasonal service from Charlotte to Brussels on Thursday, albeit on a reduced schedule from what was originally announced.
The from Charlotte flight will operate Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, on a Boeing 767, from Thursday through August 17. The airline had originally announced the flight as daily service lasting through Sept. 1.
American Airlines is operating the flight as a US Airways route until it finishes its merger integration. American and US Airways combined in December, and the merged airline accounts for more than 90 percent of daily flights at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The airline has also started new seasonal service this summer from Charlotte to Manchester, Lisbon and Barcelona. American has made similar reductions to those flights’ originally announced schedules, due to unexpectedly weak demand.
