Tech firm Velocity to relocate HQ from New York City to Charlotte

A New York City-based technology firm is moving to Charlotte and will employ 50 people.

Velocity Technology Solutions, which handles cloud-based application hosting for enterprise and business software, said it will move its headquarters from New York City in conjunction with its recent acquisition of Charlotte-based Titan Technology Partners.

The move, scheduled to be completed by October, will put 50 workers in the company’s new Charlotte headquarters. Velocity will operate out of Titan’s former office space at 2105 Water Ridge Parkway, located off Yorkmont Road near West Tyvola Parkway.

The company said it expects its staff to grow to more than 200 over the next few years. The privately-held firm has operations in Europe and Asia. Its leaders praised Charlotte’s workforce and strong business climate.

“Charlotte is a natural fit for Velocity,” CEO Tom Bruno said.

Charlotte Chamber President Bob Morgan said Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the region’s quality of life helped prompt Velocity to relocate.

“The company is a leader in the technology field, and we are excited to further build on our strong base of technology firms in the area,” Morgan said.
