Owens Corning hosted a job fair Tuesday on the Dallas Campus of Gaston College. The glass fiber maker plans to start an advanced manufacturing operation in Gaston County, creating 110 new jobs by the end of 2016. Owens was looking to hire mechanical and electrical technicians and engineers and also was trying to fill multi-craft maintenance positions.
The plant is expected to open in October 2015, and it will allow Owens Corning to expand its glass non-wovens business in North America. It will include a state-of-the-art manufacturing line, coating capability and research and development resources with potential for expansion.
According to the company, Owens is a market-leading innovator of glass fiber technology and glass fiber materials used in composites. Owens Corning’s glass fiber materials can be found in more than 40,000 end-use composite applications spanning the global transportation, industrial and construction industries. Staff report
