Charlotte hotel developer H.K. Patel plans to build a 96-room hotel off Interstate 77 Exit 33 that will cater in part to suppliers visiting the nearby Lowe’s international headquarters.
The four-story hotel will rise on two vacant acres on Medical Park Road, between a Yadkin Bank branch and the Mount Mourne Springs retail center.
Rooms will cater to visitors Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and other area medical facilities, Patel said in his application for a permit from the town.
Mooresville commissioners late Monday unanimously approved the permit allowing for the hotel’s fourth story. Three-story hotels are allowed under the property’s zoning.

Patel is negotiating with three “high-end” hotel chains on the project, said Dan Brewer of Mooresville-based WSP, the site engineer and surveyor for the project. Some rooms will be extended-stay, he said.
Construction will begin within six months and take up to 1 1/2 years, he said.
Patel said the project is in the early design stage, so it’s too early to know what the overall investment figure will be.
Patel’s CN Hotels Inc. built the 89-room Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel on Tyvola Glen Circle in Charlotte for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
