Run For Your Life is closing its Dilworth store and moving to a new location on Kings Drive in Midtown, the company said Thursday.
The store, founded in 1989, sells running gear and shoes. Run For Your Life also operates stores in the University City area and Piper Glen.
Tim Rhodes, Run For Your Life’s owner, said he expects to complete the Dilworth store’s relocation this spring.
“Dilworth was a great area for us for a very long time,” said Rhodes. “Dilworth has always kind of been the flagship location.”
He said the store has been at its current spot on Park Road for more than 15 years. But last year the company closed its SouthPark location, with the intention of consolidating its Dilworth and SouthPark stores into one larger location.
The new store will be in the Kings Court Shopping Center at 901 S. Kings Drive. Other tenants include the Melting Pot and Great Harvest Bread Co. Rhodes said its location along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway makes it an ideal place for a running store.
“It’s great looking out the window and watching a bunch of runners run by,” Rhodes said. He said the new location will feature a wider array of athletic gear to appeal to runners who have more diverse interests than they did a decade ago.
“We want to be more things to more people,” he said. “Ten years ago, runners were runners. Now they’re still runners, but they’re also mud athletes, they’re also triathletes, they’re also studio athletes, Crossfit.”
