Grant Thornton, one of the largest accounting firms in the U.S., has named Charlotte-based Billy Moore as its new chief financial officer, effective Aug. 1. Moore will succeed the retiring Russ Wieman.
Moore, 62, is currently the professional standards partner at the firm’s Carolinas practice, which has offices in Charlotte, Raleigh and Columbia, S.C. In his new role, Moore will oversee the finance and accounting operations of the Chicago-based firm.
“(Moore) will be instrumental to the growth of the firm and will build on the momentum that Russ established during his tenure, during which Grant Thornton achieved the strongest financial condition in its history.” Mike McGuire, Grant Thornton’s CEO, said in a statement.
McGuire, who lives in Charlotte, took the No. 1 spot at Grant Thornton in June.
