Lowe’s names Krispy Kreme’s Morgan to board

Mooresville-based Lowe’s Companies. Inc. has named former Krispy Kreme CEO Jim Morgan to its board of directors.

Morgan, 67, held the top spot at the Winston-Salem-based doughnut maker from 2008 to 2014 and has been on its board since 2000, serving as its chairman since 2005. He also is the former chairman and CEO of Wachovia Securities and investment banking and brokerage firm Interstate/Johnson Lane. Morgan also serves on the board of directors of Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated.

"Jim will be a valuable resource as we continue our transformation to an omni-channel home improvement company focused on differentiating through exceptional customer experiences,” said Robert Niblock, Lowe's chairman, president and CEO, in a statement.

Morgan is a Winston-Salem native and holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University.
