Charlotte-based private equity firm Frontier Capital says it has helped finance a Virginia big-data company’s acquisition of another Virginia company that provides analytic services to the federal government.

Nashville, Tenn.-based private equity firm Petra Capital Partners also provided financing for PlanetRisk’s acquisition of Analytic Strategies, a deal announced this week. Terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, Frontier invests in high-growth software and business-services companies.

Managing partners Andrew Lindner and Richard Maclean co-founded the company.

Prior to that, Lindner’s career included working for the investment banking division of Charlotte-based Bank of America. Maclean worked in the investment banking operation for NationsBank, a Charlotte-based predecessor of Bank of America.
