Charlotte real estate firm Grubb Properties has opened a new office in Atlanta, and the company’s CEO is headed there to manage things.

Clay Grubb will be working out of Atlanta for three months, starting Monday. The company has 16 employees at its Atlanta office, and said in a news release that Clay Grubb will “help oversee its opening and facilitate the company’s growth in the Atlanta market.”

In addition to its Charlotte headquarters and the Atlanta office, Grubb Properties also has offices in Cary and Lexington, N.C. The company made its first office building acquisition in Atlanta last year, buying three mid-rise buildings for just under $33 million.

“We are excited to expand our presence in Atlanta and to be part of some of its most dynamic office markets,” said Clay Grubb, in a statement. “Atlanta is seeing top job growth and is an attractive area for both corporate headquarters and new businesses.”

In Charlotte, Grubb Properties is developing apartments and new mixed-use projects at its Park Road headquarters, uptown and along the Gold Line streetcar in Elizabeth.
