A new Kimpton hotel uptown is sheathed in glass and closing in on a planned fall opening, but a second Kimpton project in Dilworth hasn’t yet started.
When upscale hotelier Kimpton announced its plans for Charlotte in March 2016, the company said both hotels would open in 2017. The Dilworth site is at the corner of East Worthington and Cleveland avenues, on a site that city council rezoned for a hotel in 2014 but has since sat vacant. Worthington Partners LLC bought the 1.2-acre parcel in 2014 for $2.5 million.
A Kimpton spokesperson said there aren’t any more details on the Dilworth hotel and when it will get underway.
“The Dilworth project is still in its planning stages, and I do not have any more recent updates to share at this time,” said Kristin Huxta Bradley.

With construction not started yet, an opening later this year is, of course, an unlikely proposition.
The Dilworth Kimpton hotel is planned to be a six-story building, with 128 rooms, 4,500 square feet of meeting space, a neighborhood restaurant, outdoor pool, and bar and rooftop venue with views of uptown.
The 217-room uptown Kimpton, part of the 300 South Tryon office development, is slated to open in October.
