A new apartment building is opening this spring off Park Road: The Abbey Apartments, developed by Spectrum Properties.

The first units are expected to be available for tenants in March, and the building will total 260 apartments. Amenities include a private, 1-acre park that will host community events, a saltwater pool, a gym, off-leash dog park and “tranquil hammock garden and outdoor TV lounge with a poolside bar,” according to the developer.

The Abbey replaced the former Abbey Place apartments, which dated to the 1960s. Spectrum has hired Rivergate KW Residential to manage the new apartments.

“The tagline of The Abbey Apartments is ‘Live Mad Happy’ because it ties into the surrounding neighborhood of Madison Park,” said Jason Fish, vice president of development at Spectrum Properties. “Our goal was to enhance the community with other like-minded residents who want the close-knit vibe that Madison Park has to offer.”

Rents at The Abbey start at $1,079 for a 606-square-foot studio, according to leasing materials. The largest apartment available, a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit, starts at $2,399 a month for 1,323 square feet.

“The Abbey is a great addition to our growing portfolio in the Carolinas,” said Marcie Williams, president of Rivergate KW Residential, which manages more than 6,000 units. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with Spectrum Properties on this one-of-a-kind asset.”
