A homebuilder is planning for a new townhouse development off South Boulevard, according to a recently filed rezoning petition.
Pulte Homes is seeking permission to build up to 95 townhouses on Starmount Cove Lane, just east of South Boulevard and south of Starbrook Lane. The site, near the Blue Line light rail Arrowood Station, is currently vacant and wooded.
A Pulte executive couldn’t immediately be reached for more information, but the site plan filed as part of the rezoning shows clusters of two-story, attached houses accessed by a network of private streets off Starmount Cove Lane.
Pulte has previously built houses in the Park South Station development nearby, a gated community of townhouses and single-family houses off Archdale Drive. The company has increasingly turned its eyes to infill developments with townhouses in recent years.

The Starmount Cove site, surrounded by single-family, detached houses, is currently zoned for up to eight residential units per acre, meaning about 72 houses could be built there now. Charlotte City Council will hold a hearing and vote on Pulte’s request to rezone the site for a denser development in the coming months.
