Pappas’ South End apartment plans appear to be moving forward

Charlotte apartment developer Peter Pappas appears to be moving forward with plans to build another apartment complex in South End, adding to the area’s boom.

Pappas, whose Terwilliger Pappas firm is building three other Solis-branded apartment complexes in Charlotte, said last month that he was considering accelerating his plans to build in South End as the apartment boom picks up speed. He’s looking at a 3.5-acre piece of land at South Boulevard and Remount Road.

On Monday, paperwork filed with the city showed the “Solis Southline” apartment complex moving ahead. According to the preliminary plans:

▪ The complex would have 313 units.

▪ Solis Southline would have a 415-space parking deck.

▪ Road improvements to the surrounding area would be made in accordance with the New Bern Station Area Plan.

The other Solis complexes in Charlotte are in Dilworth, Waverly and SouthPark (Solis Southline would sit diagonally across the street from Silos South End, so people renting would have to make sure they get the right one).

Terwilliger Pappas is also building Solis apartments in Atlanta, Raleigh and Durham. A representative for Terwilliger Pappas said he couldn’t immediately comment Tuesday.

South End is in the midst of a major apartment boom (even compared to the overall Charlotte apartment boom). A national study by Property Management Insider in December named it the fastest-growing apartment market in the U.S., in fact.

Update: Peter Pappas sent a quick statement over Thursday morning.

“We continue to further our planning on Solis Southline, working on what we believe will be an exceptional residential offering,” wrote Pappas.
