Warehouse company leases more space at former fairgrounds in Charlotte

Charlotte-based Bonded Logistics said Thursday that it’s leasing another big chunk of space at a new industrial park underway on the former site of the Metrolina Expo fairgrounds north of uptown.

The company has leased 124,000 square feet of additional space at Metrolina Park, as developer Beacon Partners is calling the facility. Bonded Logistics is also opening its first, 371,000 square foot warehouse facility at Metrolina Park, in the same building as the additional space they’ve leased.

“Plans for the additional space are already taking shape,” adds Scott Carr, owner of Bonded Logistics. “There’s been so much interest from current customers that it just made sense to go ahead and take the whole building.”

Beacon bought the fairgrounds site for $11 million last year. The company is developing a a new warehouse, distribution and light manufacturing project on the site that will total 1.2 million square feet.

In addition to the Beacon Partners site, Bonded Logistics leases nearby buildings for warehouse and distribution space totaling nearly 890,000 square feet.
