Walking to lunch this week, I saw a welcome sight for those who are looking forward to more construction cranes uptown: Fencing has gone up around the site of Greystar’s 32-story Ascent tower.
Greystar hasn’t set an official groundbreaking date yet, but work is clearly proceeding at the site at the corner of Third and Poplar streets. Green construction fencing blocks off most of the surface lot now, and there are a few small pieces of equipment on the site.
The Ascent tower is planned to have more than 300 units and about 3,200 square feet of retail at its base facing Romare Bearden Park, likely a restaurant.
