An uptown skyscraper has been sold for $160 million to a New York-based company, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.
The sale of the Charlotte Plaza building at 201 S. College Street closed Monday. A corporation affiliated with real estate investor Joseph Friedland bought the property from real estate firm Hines, records show.
The 27-story Charlotte Plaza building was completed in 1981. It totals 625,000 square feet of rentable space, and is connected to the interior shopping center Overstreet Mall. Major tenants include Charlotte School of Law, Citco and Grant Thornton. Bentley’s restaurant is on the building’s 27th floor.
