Charlotte-based Lat Purser & Associates is offering $1.65 million to buy a small fire station on South Boulevard from the city of Charlotte, according to city officials.
The half-acre property sits at South Boulevard and Arlington Avenue, next to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. Charlotte put the parcel on the market as part of its program to sell off excess city property.
According to property records, the South Boulevard fire station was built in 1958 and totals 6,500 square feet. The building has three roll-up doors in the front, facing South Boulevard. Tony Korolos, who heads the city’s real estate division, said Lat Purser plans to keep the fire station structure in place.
“They’re planning to preserve the building. They’re not planning to make major changes to the existing structure,” said Korolos.

UPDATE: A Lat Purser executive said the company is planning to upfit the building, add parking and use it for office and retail.
Founded in Charlotte, Lat Purser & Associates develops commercial and residential properties mainly in urban locations.
Charlotte City Council must vote on the sale. Like parcels along Stonewall Street that have drawn a high level of interest, the fire station site will be advertised for potential upset bids. One property at Stonewall Street and South Boulevard has drawn three bids, with Northwood Ravin holding the current lead. That site is still open for more upset bids, however.
