Charlotte-based Beacon Partners has broken ground on a speculative industrial building in York County, S.C., near exit 85 on Interstate 77.
Called Carolina Place, the 50,400-square-foot building will be available for sale or lease, Beacon said Wednesday. The building is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter this year, with Merriman Schmitt Architects designing the project and Choate Construction as the general contractor.
“Carolina Place offers a lot of flexibility with the ability to be leased or sold coupled with the flexibility to cater to manufacturing, light assembly, distribution and flex office users that continue to be active in the market, in particular within South Carolina,” said Beacon’s director of build-to-suit, Sean McDonnell, in a statement. The project is a partnership with York County, the company said.
Beacon recently completed a 277,000-square-foot speculative industrial building in York County, the Riverwalk Commerce Center, which is now partially leased to logistics company Exel.
