Restaurant, office and retail space is headed for South Boulevard in a funky space: a defunct firehouse that Lat Purser & Associates is under contract to buy from the city of Charlotte.
Charlotte-based Lat Purser offered the city $1.65 million for the half-acre site. The development company recently filed rezoning plans with the city that call for keeping the building in place and using it for new purposes.
Renderings show the Charlotte Fire Department station at 1215 S. Boulevard renovated with glass windows in place of the three roll-up doors facing South Boulevard. One elevation shows a restaurant, while another shows a bank or retail use on the first floor. The plans request the option of one drive-up window on the site, and specify office space in addition to retail on the site.
Lat Purser focuses on developing commercial and residential properties, mainly in urban locations. The rezoning request will be heard in October before City Council.
