Southern Apartment Group plans to start work on a mixed-use development south of Ballantyne soon.
The project will add apartments and office space on Lancaster Highway near Providence Road West, near the South Carolina border.
“It’s a small mixed-use project,” said Lindsey McAlpine, a principal with Southern Apartment Group parent CitiSculpt.
The company will build 24 multifamily units and 10,000 square feet of office space. McAlpine said Southern Apartment Group is working through permitting and other final approvals now and should start work within the next 45 days. He expects the office space to be used by professionals such as a dentist’s office, doctor or lawyer.

Southern Apartment Group is also working on larger apartment projects with hundreds of units in NoDa and on West Morehead Street, as well as an office building on West Morehead. And CitiSculpt is starting an ambitious project in Durham that should remake a former auto mall into a major mixed-use development.
