Uptown’s newest co-working space is set to debut with a grand opening Oct. 1, offering a trendy new use for a renovated building that’s 85 years old.

Level Office Charlotte is already 50 percent leased, the company said. Level Office bought and renovated a building at 227 W. Fourth St., which was constructed in 1930 and was a Ford dealership at one point. The company paid $2.1 million for the 25,600-square-foot building.

Targeted at entrepreneurs and startups, Level Office leases private offices and co-working desks. Rates start at $349 a month for an office and $199 a month for a co-working desk.

“Charlotte is a fantastic place to be an entrepreneur right now, and we want to support those small business owners with budget friendly, flexible workspace,” said Bill Bennett, Level Office’s founder, in a statement. The company also operates in Chicago, Houston and Dallas.

Perks at the office include 100 mbps fiber Internet, local beers on tap, lounge areas, an espresso bar and on-site administrative support.
