South College Street is filled with the sound of construction equipment again, as work ramps up on uptown’s newest office tower.
Portman Holdings has stripped away much of the facade from a parking deck next to the Westin hotel, in preparation for 615 South College. The tower will be built atop the parking deck.
The first crane is now at the site, though a tower crane won’t be up until December. Crews are beefing up the supports under the parking deck, and the building should go vertical pretty quickly once that preliminary work is done.
Completion is set for February 2017. Portman is building the tower on a speculative basis, meaning no tenants have been signed yet.
