Before a huge new wave of apartments opens in Charlotte this winter and spring, they’re already opening on the Internet.
Many of the apartment buildings under construction in Charlotte have websites that recently came online. Listing them might seem a bit silly, but the website is a primary marketing tool for apartments that are largely competing to lure the same cohort of young, well-paid millennial renters who want to live close to the urban core.
Think of them as the apartment equivalent of a Tinder profile, trying to encourage prospective tenants to swipe right. And with so many of the target demographic moving in from other cities to Charlotte, an apartment website might well be the first and last impression a prospective renter gets of the property. That’s how I rented my first Charlotte apartment in 2009, sight unseen, back in the dark ages when even relatively new apartment buildings came with white appliances and (gasp!) no saltwater pool.
