A rezoning plan filed recently with the city calls for a new townhouse development on Carmel Road in southeast Charlotte.
The plan, on a 5-acre site on Carmel Road near Shadowlake Drive, calls for up to 40 townhouses. The buildings would be a maximum of two stories, and one detached home would be on the site. A preliminary site plan shows the buildings oriented inward, facing two private streets.
The site is currently occupied by two single-family houses and owned by the Blanchard family. There is a gas station on the corner that isn’t covered by the rezoning request, and would remain. The surrounding land is mostly occupied by single-family houses.
Eastwood Homes is listed as the developer. The company has built homes throughout the Charlotte area, including at Berewick, in Steele Creek, Waxhaw, Concord and Belmar Place near the University City area.
