It’s the fall movie season, which means studios are releasing their Oscar-worthy films in search of awards. But development nerds know what’s really worth watching: Construction cams.

Webcams, now a staple of construction sites, are pointed at some of Charlotte’s most prominent developments, beaming live streams of the work straight to your cubicle.

Here are four construction cameras you should bookmark as workers build some of the biggest projects in Charlotte. Click the name of the project to see the construction cam:

▪ SkyHouse II (The Sequel)

What it is: A 336-unit, 24-story apartment tower on North Church Street uptown, by Novare Group and Grubb Properties.

Why you should watch: This is the second SkyHouse tower, so you can see a time lapse of the first one being built along with the parking deck.

▪ 500 East Morehead

What it is: A seven-story office building by Beacon Partners:

Why you should watch: Beacon just finished tearing down the old office building on the site, so you can check out a time lapse of the demolition as work starts.

▪ 300 South Tryon

What it is: A 25-story office tower by Spectrum Properties, anchored by Babson Capital.

Why you should watch: The developers dug a four-story pit for parking and the foundation, and are just starting to go vertical. Watch the tower go down and then start rising.

▪ 615 South College

What it is: A 19-story office tower by Portman Holdings, being built next to the Westin hotel.

Why you should watch: Work is just starting on the tower, atop a parking garage. Watch workers slice into the garage and build the tower on top of the parking deck.
